The One Book South Dakota is sponsored by the South Dakota Humanities Council.
We can read a book alone, but until we discuss it, the process doesn’t seem complete. Often what one person says about a book enhances our understanding and shapes our perceptions of the book’s themes and meaning. The One Book South Dakota program exists to encourage this exchange through reading one book as a community.
“A moving and substantial contribution to the literature of the changing contemporary Midwest, and a welcome reminder of the peace that open spaces and extended silences can confer.” — Washington Post Book World
