Come on in to the library and pick up a few books or movies to keep you going when the library closes for a few days from December 24th through the 26th. We’ll also close at 5:00 pm on New Year’s Eve, December 31st and be closed for New Year’s Day, January 1st, 2013. Wishing you all a warm, safe holiday season!
We work hard here at the Vermillion Public Library to provide library services to the members of the Vermillion community. Libaries are places of joy and discovery and it’s always heartwarming to read essays that discuss the important role that libraries play in the lives of people everywhere. A friend had come across this essay by Zadie Smith in the New York Review of Books some time ago and recommended it:
We have a three of Zadie Smith’s books here in the library in Adult Fiction:
White Teeth: A Novel (2000)
On Beauty: A Novel (2005)
NW: A Novel (2012)

Vermillion is a small community, but it seems there are many book groups in the area and that’s good news! The Vermillion Public Library has an Adult Book Group and a Teen Book Group that each meet several times a year. Do you belong to a book club or reading group in the area? Perhaps you are interested in joining a group to meet people and share in the discussion of new books. Let us be a resource and gather information to connect readers to one another. If you are part of a book group, e-mail us at email@example.com and let us know the name of your group, along with name and info for a contact person. If you’d like, tell us a little about the focus or membership of your group and we can share the information with the community. Do you know that the Library has a very nice range of Book Club Bags for Adults and for Teens that are
ready-made for reading groups? Each bag has 10 copies of the book, along with a discussion guide….ready to go! Check out the lists of available books under the Adults and Teens tabs on this website.
We’re open now for business in our new temporary quarters! Please use the new entrance to enter and exit the building, as the old building is now under renovation.
