Do you spend much time perusing our New Books displays? We literally put out many new books weekly, if not more often. There’s something for everyone! Come on down and see what’s New this month.
Readers of every age will be challenged to dream big this summer as the Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library presents “Build a Better World!” during their 2017 Summer Reading Program. Planned activities include coding, circuits, and LEGO robotics, creative building projects, health & wellness sessions, Chess Club, Origami Club, weekly entertainers and much, much more. The Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young-adult, with programs, prize drawings, Storytime sessions, reading clubs, and many other sessions.
Did you know that children consistently score higher in reading and math when they participate in summer reading programs? Use the summer season to bolster your child’s brain development, while having tons of fun – for FREE! Families are invited to join the Read-to-Me program; adults are encouraged to register, as well, for the adult reading program, all of which have prizes available.
Registration for all summer reading programs will begin on May 22nd, via the ‘Summer Reading Program’ link here on our website, and are free of charge. Libraries are for everyone.

The Vermillion Public Library is excited to introduce a new program called Repair Cafe! You can read more about the Repair Cafe movement here:
This first session will focus on clothing/textile and bicycle repairs. We will have volunteers (with tools!) on hand who are willing to assist you with minor repairs of various sorts. In order to serve you best, it would be helpful to sign up for an appointment ahead-of-time with a description of repair needed. However, drop-ins will also be accommodated, so don’t hesitate to join us if you can!
It’s Edie’s Birthday!! Come and help us celebrate at the next sale of the Friends of the Vermillion Public Library, in Edie’s Book Shop.
Coming this Friday and Saturday, May 5th & 6th, from 10 am to 4 pm.
This month is a very special celebration of our namesake – Edie! May is her birthday month, so come on down to the shop and enjoy a treat while you shop:) Don’t miss your chance to support library programming, and score some sweet book deals for yourself, as well!
The VPL will host a discussion of Hidden Figures, facilitated by Teresa Chasing Hawk, on Thursday, May 4th at 1 pm. Copies of the book are available for check-out at the Circulation Desk starting… NOW! We will also screen the film adaptation after our discussion;)
