On Thursday, August 4th from 2-4 pm, the Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library will host a public reception for retiring staff member Shelly Koller. Says Acting Director Wendy Nilson, “Shelly has been the heart & soul of the library and will be greatly missed.”
Shelly Koller joined the staff at the Library in 1991 as the Circulation Supervisor. In her time with the organization she has seen a number of profound changes take place within the Library, from the introduction of digitized records, to the implementation of various state-wide searchable databases, to the major renovation and expansion which took place in 2013. She is one of the most recognizable faces in the library due to her position at the Circulation Desk, and is the staff member with whom the vast majority of patrons interact during their visits. “Jane Larson hired me in the 1991 and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work at the Library. I will truly miss my job, all the wonderful patrons I have met, and the friendships I’ve made over the years.”
Patrons and the public are encouraged to drop by during the reception, which will be held in the Kozak Community Room.
The end of our exciting Summer Reading Program, anyway.
We will wind down another eventful summer on Wednesday, July 27th at 1 pm, with a participant party out behind the library. Patrons are invited to join in our ‘Cool Down Party’ – an afternoon of water games, pizza, ice cream and prizes in honor of their participation in this summer’s program. Be ready to get wet! Those who wish to attend are asked to reserve a spot in advance by either visiting our website at http://
*In the case of inclement weather, the party will be rescheduled!*
Thanks to an exuberant and active Kick-off party, generously supported by the Friends of the Vermillion Public Library, Larry Brady, and Murph’s Appliance, we ushered in the 2016 summer season with nearly 200 attendees! To view some of the highlights, visit the library’s Youtube channel and look up the Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library.
The Friends of the Vermillion Public Library organization does so much to support the Summer Reading Program through their Edie’s Book Shop Sales. We’d like to send out an extra huge thank you to all of you who drop by these monthly sales to search for your fabulous book treasure. Every dollar you spent goes back into library programming! Additionally, June’s sale was matched by a generous grant from the Modern Woodmen of America – everyone who shopped on the June 3rd & 4th sale doubled their impact. THANK YOU Modern Woodmen!
