The Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library and USD are teaming up to help K-8th graders with their homework.
Come visit us in the Craft Room (Children’s Area) at the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 pm.

Stop by tomorrow for the final day of our Dakota Players visit. The kids have been working hard with the Dakota Players all week, learning lots of fun stuff about creating characters, designing for theater, singing, dancing, etc. They’ll be putting on a simple show & tell performance for parents and the public. Come cheer them on!

The Edith B. Seigrist Vermillion Public Library would like to welcome Susan Heggestad and Beth Knedler, our Summer Reading Program Coordinators.
They are hard at work organizing and making final preparations for the big Super Science Fair and Teen Kick-off that mark the beginning of an event-packed two months of activities at the library for kid, teens and adults. The Super Science Fair Kick-off will run from 1 to 3 pm on Monday, June 2nd and the Teen Kick-off Party begins at 4 pm also on the Monday, June 2nd. The Super Science Fair will bring together scientists from the area who will share displays, exhibits and experiments at their booths. Don’t miss out on the fun and the start of the season. Kids can pick up their program bags with all the information and reading log. The Teen kick-off event will also feature fun, food and science-related events!
The Fizz! Boom! READ! Kickoff for kids will be a Super Science Fair….June 2, 2014 anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 pm in the Kozak Community Room.
Visit with scientists, visit the displays and have some mad scientist escapades! Enjoy a snack and pick up your program bag, complete with your reading log and all the information you will need for enjoying all the events in the Summer Reading Program!
The Spark a Reaction Teen Kickoff will begin on June 2nd at
4 pm. Fun with a photo booth, mad science experiments…snacks and more! Teens can pick up their program bag at the Kickoff as well.
Monday, May 12th Stop in for a bookmark and a treat and check out some of your favorite books! (open to kids all day)
Tuesday, May 13th Book related crafts! 3:45 – 4:45 pm in the Kozak Room
Plenty of projects—do one or do them all! Snacks provided.
Wednesday, May 14th Book Scavenger Hunt (any time; open to all kids)
Pick up a form at the desk. Complete it and turn it in by Sunday to be eligible for prize drawings.
Thursday, May 15th A Read-in! 3:45 – 4:45 in the Kozak Room
Bring your favorite book or books, a pillow, and/or a sleeping bag. Snuggle into the Community Room for an hour of reading! Snacks provided.

An exciting new season of After School Programs begins tomorrow, September 5th. These programs are open to all elementary students, K-5, but not appropriate for preschoolers. The programs run 3:45 – 5 pm on Thursdays and include snacks! The first Thursday of each month is devoted to a program called Books & Authors. This month the focus is on the 75th Anniversary of the Caldecott Medal! We’ll be reading some of the past winners, playing a game and doing a craft. See you after school on Thursdays!
