Craft Project during “Minute to Win It” Early
Elementary After School Program on Monday, April 15th
There are still two more programs scheduled to help us celebrate National Library Week here at the Vermillion Public Library. Today (Tuesday, April 16th) from 3:45 to 5:00, join us for a fun-filled program for Upper Elementary kids. “The Amazing Race” will feature a scavenger hunt race through the new library to earn craft supplies for a project. Snacks will be provided.
On Thursday, April 18th from 3:45 to 5:00, a program for Teens….“So You Think You Can Dance?” will feature library trivia combined with the latest dance moves!
The Vermillion Public Library will celebrate National Library Week with some special events planned for kids of all ages. Our theme, “It’s TV Game Show Week @ Your Library” will include programs for Early Elementary, Upper Elementary and Teens. Check out the Kids Special Events and Teen pages for specific information. Each event will run after school from 3:45 to 5:00!

Saturday, February 2, 2013 marks the second annual Take Your Child To The Library Day! This event was the idea of Nadine Lipman, a children’s librarian in Watertown, Connecticut. The first Saturday in Februrary marks the special day to introduce your child to the amazing world of the local library!
Stop by the Vermillion Public Library anytime Saturday, February 2nd from 10 am to 5 pm and browse the spaces, books and media. Pick up a bookmark, a treat and sign up for a free book drawing. Winners will be notified the following week! Look forward to seeing you!
STORY TIMES – WINTER SESSION BEGINS WEEK OF JANUARY 7th!
Story Times for toddler and preschool children require registration, which can be done by calling the Library at 677-7060, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or stopping in at the Libary at 18 Church Street.
Winter Story Times sessions will be held in the Temporary Story Time Room in the library basement.
Toddler (ages 1, 2, 3) BEGINS January 8, 2013
Each half hour session will include several short books, music, and movment. An adult caregiver must be present during these programs and registration is required.
Toddler Story Time Schedule:
Tuesday: 10:30 am, 11:15 am or 6:00 pm
Preschool (ages 3, 4, 5) BEGINS January 7, 2013
This program is open to three, four and five year olds and involves a longer book and a
related craft project. During this half hour program, children will be in the Activity Room and parents are encouraged to remain in the Children’s Area.
Preschool Story Time Schedule:
Monday: 6:30 pm or 7:00 pm
Wednesday: 11:15 am
Thursday: 11:15 am
Winter sessions of Story Time for toddlers and pre-school children will begin the week of January 7th, 2013. All sessions will be held in the basement of the new library building and registration is required, as space is limited. To register, stop by the library, call us at 677-7060 or email email@example.com. Pre-School Story Time is open to kids aged 3, 4 or 5 with 1/2 hour sessions held on Mondays at 6:30 and 7:00 pm, as well as Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11:15 am. Toddler Story Time sessions are open to children aged, 1, 2 and 3, but an adult caregiver or parent must be present during the session. The half-hour Toddler Story Times are held on Tuesdays at 10:30 and 11:15 am, as well as Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm.
Registration is open at all Story Time sessions until full. Be sure to sign up soon, as sessions will begin the week of January 7th!
We’re open now for business in our new temporary quarters! Please use the new entrance to enter and exit the building, as the old building is now under renovation.

So many books to choose from!!! Our community volunteers are currently hard at work, sorting massive numbers of books for the Friends of the Library Book Sale that begins tomorrow, October 25th at 10:00 a.m.
Sale runs through the weekend, so be sure to stop by!
A relaxing afternoon of fun with plenty of games and jigsaw puzzles. Take a break from your routine and meet some new folks. We’ll meet in the Community Room from 1-4 pm, Saturday October 20th. Look forward to seeing you!
