Join us at the University of South Dakota I.D. Weeks Library for the 3rd Annual Vermillion Human Library!
The Human Library works similarly to a traditional library, but the books are actually people who can be “checked out” by readers. The human book and reader engage in up to 20 minutes of conversation about the book’s experience(s). The book may also ask the reader questions, prompting discussion about shared and differing experiences.
Founded in 2001 in Denmark, the Human Library organization seeks to promote human rights and social cohesion by creating greater understanding between people. It provides an opportunity for people to learn more about each other while working through stereotypes and discrimination.
The 2019 Vermillion Human Library is brought to you by University Libraries USD and the Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library.
