Body Thrive Workshop
Jan 24 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Are you ready to improve your sleeping and eating habits? Do you want to learn how to synchronize your bodily rhythms to nature’s clock and experience more balance, ease, and flow throughout your life? Join us at the library for this 10-week workshop and book discussion designed to teach the most essential aspects of Ayurveda and apply them to modern life.

Cate Stillman is an Ayurvedic Practitioner and Yoga Teacher. Guided by her book, Body Thrive: Uplevel Your Body and Your Life with 10 Habits from Ayurveda and Yoga, this group will meet weekly to learn 10 specific habits from the teachings of Ayurveda in 10 weeks. That’s one essential, daily habit upgrade per week!

Body Thrive applies the most essential teachings of Ayurveda into a modern life by decoding the teachings into habits. Ayurveda is the perennial body wisdom tradition that co-arose with yoga, the path of living awake. Here lies a simple body habits curriculum that every person can learn as a child, master as an adult, and refine as an elder for their body to thrive. Check out more at www.bodythrive.com.

Books will be available for checkout at the library Circulation Desk.

Lunch & Learn: More Than a Month
Feb 1 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Lunch & Learn returns in time for Black History Month! Join us in the Kozak Room for lunch and a PBS Independent Lens documentary film by Shukree Hassan Tilghman, MORE THAN A MONTH.

The young African-American filmmaker sets out on a cross-country campaign to end Black History Month. Through this thoughtful and humorous journey, he explores what the treatment of history tells us about race and equality in a “post-racial” America.

Tilghman’s campaign to end Black History Month is a provocative gambit to open a public conversation about the idea of ethnic heritage months, and whether relegating African American history to the shortest month of the year – and separating it from American history on the whole – denigrates the role of black people and black culture throughout American history. But it is also a seeker’s journey to reconcile his own conflicting feelings about his own identity, history, and convictions.
