FAQ

Anyone!

Anyone over the age of 18 can sign themselves up for a library card. Parents/Guardians can sign up children of any age – but remember that you will assume all responsibility of that card.

**If you have had an account with us before, as long as there are no replacement fees in our records we can renew your card, otherwise those fees will need to be paid before your card is reinstated.**

  • Residents of Clay County can sign up for library cards for free.
  • University of South Dakota students can sign up for library cards for free with their local address or dorm address.
  • Non-residents of Clay County can sign up for a library card with a yearly fee of $45.

Please bring a valid form of identification (Drivers License or Identification Card). A piece of mail (such as a utility bill) with your current address will be needed if your form of ID is not up-to-date.

Your card gives you access to all of our library materials! We have audio books, print books, Large Print books, eBooks, hotspots, and so much more! All of the electronic resources listed on this website are accessible with a library card. Children under the age of 18 need a library card to use the computers if they are not accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Library cards will expire after one year. Simply call or stop in to renew your card! We will verify all of your contact information is up-to-date and the card renewal is free for residents of Clay County (non-residents will need to pay the $45 annual fee to renew their card).
